A new website has been launched by Dublin city Council http://www.bridgesofdublin.ie and at first glance it might appear that this site is for bridge enthusiasts and architectural fanatics but it quickly becomes obvious that this well constructed site is loaded with information that would keep anybody with an interest in Historical Dublin, trivia or stories of Dublin’s colourful past entertained for hours.
I am not a bridge enthusiast by any stretch of the imagination but found the images witch vary from the construction of the more modern bridges to historical archive pictures of old Dublin and some beautiful images of the city we live in today using the bridges as a subject.
Personally I found the stories well written and engaging, my favourite one is kidnapped about James the rightful earl of Anglesea who was taken by his uncle and sold into slavery in America. James’ adventures formed the basis…
